7 Types of ADHD Traits Assessment — Get a FREE personalised report!
5 Min Brain Function Assessment →Diagnosis or Not
ADHD or ADD presents differently in every single person. Two children with identical diagnoses can have completely different profiles, strengths, struggles, and underlying drivers. A label tells you what, but rarely why — and almost never how to help.
That's why a one-size-fits-all approach so often fails. Medication that works for one person can make another significantly worse. Strategies that help one child can overwhelm another. The system wasn't built for this level of nuance — but our approach is.
We work with the individual in front of us: their specific neurochemistry, their nervous system patterns, their unique combination of traits. No two pathways look exactly alike — because no two people do either.
No diagnosis required — we work with traits, not labels
Every pathway is tailored to the individual's neurochemistry
ADHD and ADD interact differently in every person
Nervous system regulation is at the core of every approach
Results in days, not months — without medication or waiting lists
Understanding ADHD
Research by Dr Daniel Amen identifies seven distinct types — each with different brain patterns, symptoms, and optimal approaches. Understanding which type (or combination) you're dealing with changes everything.
The most recognised type. Characterised by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Often diagnosed in childhood, particularly in boys.
Predominantly inattentive with little or no hyperactivity. Often missed or misdiagnosed — particularly common in girls and adults.
Difficulty shifting attention, excessive worrying, and getting stuck in loops of negative thinking. Often accompanied by anxiety and OCD tendencies.
Involves memory and mood issues alongside classic ADHD symptoms. Can present with irritability, aggression, and dark or violent thoughts.
ADHD combined with chronic low-grade depression. Characterised by moodiness, low energy, negativity, and a tendency to isolate.
Intense, cyclic mood changes, hypersensitivity, and extreme distractibility. The brain appears overactive across multiple regions simultaneously.
ADHD accompanied by significant anxiety, tension, and physical stress symptoms. Tends to freeze under pressure rather than act impulsively.

Our Story
"She was painting her kitchen when an audio book changed everything."
A single mum of a young boy with AuDHD and an EHCP, Zoe had spent years navigating a system that offered waiting lists, labels, and very little else. Then, mid-paint-stroke, she picked up The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk — and the pieces began to fall into place.
What started as a desperate search for answers for her son became something much bigger. After seeing the profound results for her son, she retrained as a Neurofeedback practitioner with BrainTrainUK and as an Amino Acid Therapy specialist with Mark Styles, a leading Functional Health Specialist.
Zoe holds a BA in Psychology and Law from Lancaster University, alongside extensive training in counselling and the psychology of both children and adults. Crucially, her approach recognises that talking about trauma is never a requirement — the body can heal without having to relive it.
NeuroBalance is the pathway she wished had existed. No meds. No side effects. No talking required.

Real Results
"As both a parent and a clinician working in the field of autism and ADHD assessment, I don't often write reviews, but our experience with NeuroBalance has been so remarkable that I felt compelled to share it. Earlier this year, my six year old son was struggling significantly with focus, attention and learning. Following discussions with his school, we were told that he was unlikely to meet the expected standard in his phonics screening check. At home, writing had become a real source of distress. His confidence had fallen dramatically, he was beginning to describe himself as a failure and he no longer wanted to go to school. As a parent, it was heartbreaking to watch. Just one week before his phonics screening check, Zoe introduced us to NeuroBalance and took the time to help us understand amino acids, nutritional balance and how they may support brain function. Rather than offering quick fixes, she patiently explained the science, answered every question and tailored her recommendations with such care and compassion. The changes we have seen have been extraordinary. Within a relatively short period of time, we noticed improvements in his focus, engagement and confidence. He went on not only to pass his phonics screening check but to achieve one of the highest scores in his class. His teachers have commented on the incredible difference they have seen in him and, as parents, we have watched him begin to enjoy learning again. As someone with ADHD myself, I have also begun my own NeuroBalance journey. I already feel more balanced and better able to manage my own attention and energy. Recently I was without my ADHD medication for several days — normally I would expect everything to unravel, but this time I felt far more regulated than I have during previous gaps in medication. That was a significant moment for me. Thank you, Zoe. Your knowledge, compassion and dedication are making a real difference to families like ours."
